👋🏽 Hi, I’m Diana Alayon, a Senior User Experience Designer with a strong emphasis on interaction design.

My job is to avoid the frustrating feeling when a digital product you are using is not doing what you want it to do. I try to make it as easy as possible. I’m deeply invested in understanding user needs and behaviors, the functionality of a product, and less on the visual appearance. Form follows function and most of us can leverage Design Systems.

The Ascension One app

The Ascension One app is a digital platform provided by Ascension healthcare that allows patients to manage their medical care, including scheduling appointments, viewing test results, paying bills, messaging their doctor, and accessing their health information, acting as a central hub for managing their healthcare with Ascension facilities.

My design effort was oriented to creating a personalized and cohesive experience, while navigating all the technical challenges related to sharing patient data between different healthcare systems (EHRs) and providers.

IBM Watson Assistant builder

IBM Watson Assistant is an AI-powered virtual agent (a.k.a. chat bot) that uses natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning to provide customers with answers across different channels, devices, and applications.

My design effort was oriented to improving the builder interface, enabling the SMEs (subject matter experts) to focus on the conversation they want to have with their customers, instead of the code needed to build a chat bot.

Oregon Association for Talented and Gifted (OATAG) website redesign

OATAG is a non-profit organization that advocates for the need of talented and gifted (TAG) children in Oregon. Their website serves as a resource for families and educators of TAG.

My design effort was oriented toward understanding the mental model of users looking for information so that we could provide a clear path to what they’re looking for by improving the site’s navigation and the information hierarchy.
