Design Request: to create a web experience to buy and send Gift Cards in real time. Incentivizing the use of eGifts and offering more than brands but experiences to the user.
Business Problem: plastic Gift Cards are hard to manage and hide information from the user such us expiration date and redemption policies.

One of the insights that I got from the users was that it would be nice to have an option to split the payment, so you can buy a Gift Card of a higher value to give a better gift to your friends.
After an open card sorting activity with 5 users valuable insight was gain to better structure the information in our site. Considering to buy a physical or an electronic gift card seemed irrelevant to our users. Shop by occasion and by brand made more sense when thinking about gifting.
Identifying who my users are and creating personas helped me to understand my user's needs and goals — what are they trying to accomplish using my product and how my design meets their expectations.
This is the journey of a new user buying in our site, walking through 3 major steps: choose a Gift Card, select a friend and checkout.
